The Cleveland Guardians have been one of the better teams in the American League for quite some time now, and a data point shared after Monday night’s 8-2 win over the Detroit Tigers puts the full scope of that run into proper perspective.
Guardians Prospective pulled the records since July 7th of last year, and the gap between Cleveland and Detroit over that stretch is about as stark a contrast as you will find between two AL Central rivals.
“Updated records since 7/07/25. Cleveland Guardians (74-48) .607%. Detroit Tigers (49-69) .415%,” Guardians Perspective wrote.

That is not a hot streak. That is a sustained level of excellence that very few teams in baseball can match over any meaningful sample size. For context, a .607 winning percentage over a full 162-game season would translate to roughly 98 wins, which is the kind of output that contends for home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
The contrast with Detroit is equally telling. The Tigers sit at 49-69 over that same stretch, a .415 winning percentage that reflects a franchise still searching for consistency despite flashing individual talent.
Cleveland has now won eight of their last 11 games entering Tuesday night’s matchup at Comerica Park, with Parker Messick taking the mound against Keider Montero. The bullpen is rested, the offense is rolling, Jose Ramirez is heating up, and Angel Martinez just won AL Player of the Week. The pieces are all pointing in the same direction at the same time.
A .607 winning percentage over 122 games does not happen by accident. It happens because an organization has built something real, developed it patiently and put the right people in position to execute night after night. Whatever the Guardians have been doing since last July, the rest of the American League would be wise to take notice, because there is no sign of it slowing down anytime soon.
