Cleveland Guardians infielder/outfielder Tyler Freeman has received ample opportunities to secure an everyday role since 2022, the year in which he made his MLB debut.
However, and no matter how useful and versatile he is (he definitely gets points on both fronts), the lack of offense has really hurt his status in the organization.
That’s why Freeman, who doesn’t lack work ethic, is taking matters into his own hands and is training hard to secure a spot in the 2025 Guardians and beyond.

You can watch Freeman working out on his physique, probably wanting to gain some extra power.
He won the Guardians’ center field job in spring training, but the organization saw fit to replace him with trade acquisition Lane Thomas in August.
Freeman eventually was demoted to Triple-A Columbus on September 14.
He was initially added to the Division Series roster, but a strained left oblique robbed him from the chance to be part of the Guardians magical run.
Freeman ended up hitting a disappointing .209 with seven home runs, 32 RBI and 11 RBI for the Guardians this year.
Things looked promising at the start of the year, but in the end, he ended up performing at a similar offensive level he has during his entire career.
He finished with an 84 wRC+, not too different from the 83 mark he had in 2023 and the 77 he posted in his debut season.
He did learn center field, which gives him some hope for playing time if he can at least be an average hitter.
If he can’t, there is a very good chance the Guardians replace him on the roster at some point.
