The Cleveland Guardians lost their spring training game on Tuesday, 9-6 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Their starter Luis L. Ortiz allowed a whopping six runs and couldn’t get out of the second frame.
It’s hard for any offense to come back from such a lousy outing from their starter.
The Guards, however, did make it interesting at least, in large part thanks to a mammoth late home run by top prospect Travis Bazzana.
The 2024 No. 1 draft pick took Alexander Cornielle deep in the ninth inning to make the score a bit more decent.
It wasn’t enough to win the game, but the drive itself was incredibly impressive.

Hitting a ball 443 feet is definitely nothing to sneeze at.
We already knew Bazzana had plenty of power, though, so this is no surprise.
He remains the Guardians’ second baseman of the future, and while he probably won’t make the big leagues this year, he remains an exciting part of what’s coming in Cleveland.
He was successful, albeit not necessarily spectacular, in his first taste of professional baseball last year.
Playing second base for the Lake County Captains of High-A, Bazzana hit three homers, stole five bases, and posted a 126 wRC+ in 122 plate appearances.
He did have a .238 batting average and a 25.4 percent strikeout rate, though, so he has things to work on.
Still, the potential is undeniable, and even if he doesn’t fully realize it, he should be good enough to start in a year or two.
