While the Cleveland Guardians keep slumping, losing five straight and being shut out in three of those games, a prospect keeps mashing in Triple-A.
With their chances dwindling, calling up Chase DeLauter, who continues to amaze in the minors, is not only looking like a viable solution but is developing into a necessity.
DeLauter alone probably won’t save the Guardians’ season, but he can certainly help.
As the organization keeps running out of excuses, he is doing his part, making sure to dominate Triple-A pitching.
“Chase DeLauter won’t stop! With this double, DeLauter now has a 27-game on-base streak and a 15-game hit streak,” GuardsInsider posted on X.

A 27-game on-base streak is impressive at any level, as is a 15-game hitting streak.
Triple-A pitchers have no answers for DeLauter right now.
While it would be unfair to expect him to translate his .923 OPS from Triple-A to the majors, he would be an upgrade over the Guardians’ current alternatives in right field.
The organization insists that the idea is to get DeLauter’s body used to playing five or six times per week, but they might be sacrificing their postseason chances with every day he is not in the majors.
If Cleveland wants to have a chance at making the playoffs, it needs to call up DeLauter and fellow Triple-A slugger C.J. Kayfus and acquire at least a couple of major pieces before the trade deadline.
With that, plus a successful return by ace Shane Bieber, Cleveland could potentially capture an AL Wild Card spot.
