The Cleveland Guardians secured their spot in the 2024 MLB postseason on Thursday thanks to a win against the Minnesota Twins.
They are returning to the big party after a one-year hiatus, eager to top what they did in their impressive 2022 campaign when they reached the Division Series.
What’s next for Cleveland’s talented roster? According to sports anchor Nick Camino, there are still plenty of goals ahead.
“Next up: Clinching the AL Central Division and snagging a top 2 seed for the MLB Playoffs,” he posted on X.

The Guardians are already in the postseason.
However, the AL Central title would add prestige to their achievements.
Not only that, but a top-two seed in the American League would be highly convenient for many reasons.
If the Guardians can’t finishing inside the top two in the junior circuit, they would risk elimination at an earlier stage: the Wild Card round, where there is a lot of room for randomness and weird things happening since it’s a best-of-three matchup.
If they earn a top-two seed, they will advance directly to the Division Series.
Per insider Jensen Lewis, their magic number for the division is now at three and for the top-two seed is at four.

There are eight games left to play and both goals are very much realistic.
Finishing with the best record in the AL would also give them home field advantage throughout their whole journey to the Fall Classic.
In any case, it’s clear Cleveland still has plenty of things to play for in what is left of the regular season.
