For years, the Cleveland Guardians have struggled to hit balls out of the park. That was also the case last season, and they ranked near the bottom of the league in most offensive categories.
However, that wasn’t the case with Jose Ramirez. If anything, the superstar third baseman did plenty of heavy lifting for Stephen Vogt’s team.
More than that, he’s not the typical slugger who will swing at anything and just hope for the best. He’s methodical, and his disciplined approach at the plate only makes him deadlier.
That was even more evident in a post shared by the MLB Network on X. Last season, he had the second-lowest K% among hitters with at least 20 home runs.
Ramirez’s 11.0 percent K% on 30 dingers trailed only Mookie Betts, who had a 10.3 percent K% and had 20 home runs. Notably, Ramirez was better than other stars like Geraldo Perdomo, Cody Bellinger, Josh Naylor, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Lowest K% among hitters with 20+ HR last season:
10.3% – Mookie Betts (20 HR)
11.0% – José Ramírez (30 HR)
11.5% – Geraldo Perdomo (20 HR)
13.7% – Cody Bellinger (29 HR)
13.7% – Josh Naylor (20 HR)
13.8% – Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (23 HR) pic.twitter.com/3VwdMb5Xd5— MLB Network (@MLBNetwork) November 29, 2025
Jose Ramirez knows how to put the ball into play. Even in those few instances when he’s not getting it done at the plate, he always finds ways to get on base and contribute to the offense in some shape or form.
The Guardians didn’t have many reliable hitters last season, and they desperately need to address that situation in the offseason. Ramirez is one of the most complete and versatile offensive players in the game, and it’s about time the front office gives him the type of supporting cast he needs to take this team to the top.
