The Cleveland Guardians have been up and down this season, but that doesn’t mean they need to give up on this core.
If anything, they need to bolster a couple of positions to surround their stars with the type of supporting cast they need to thrive.
Guardians in-game reporter Andre Knott recently made a case for shortstop Gabriel Arias being one of the team’s most talented players.
“I had somebody from Colorado ask me yesterday, outside of Jose [Ramirez], who’s the three most talented players? I said Arias is one of the most talented guys. We need him to get consistent for two months,” Knott said, via “The Carlos Baerga Show.”

Arias has yet to establish himself at a position, but he won’t be eligible for arbitration until 2027, so there’s no need to rush.
He’s shown that he can be a daily contributor when he’s at his best, and he’s been efficient at both second base and shortstop.
He’s been the everyday shortstop since he returned from the injured list and is a standout on defense.
He’s also been better at the plate since getting consistent playing time.
Of course, the Guardians will have a bit of a logjam in the middle of the infield once Juan Brito gets more playing time, assuming he can stay healthy, and there is also top prospect Travis Bazzana.
But even if there’s a surplus of talent, Arias has shown that he deserves to be an everyday player.
