Cleveland Guardians starter Aaron Civale keeps having bad luck with injuries.
His Wednesday start had to be cut short because of an injury after just one inning and 20 pitches.
He felt soreness in his right wrist and couldn’t continue.
The Guardians sent him for an MRI and the diagnosis is a right wrist sprain.
He had to be placed on the 15-day injured list.
“Roster moves for Guardians: -Placed Aaron Civale on 15-day IL; -Called up Tanner Tully; -DFAd Alex Young; -Claimed Kirk McCarty off waivers from Orioles and sent to Triple-A; –Oscar Mercado cleared waivers and sent to Triple-A,” Guardians reporter Mandy Bell tweeted.

Civale Has Had Some Tough Luck In The 2022 Season So Far
The 2022 campaign has been rough for the right-hander, who has a 6.17 ERA through 12 starts this season with Cleveland.
The Guardians certainly need more from him if they are going to dream about making a deep postseason run.
In 21 starts and 124.1 frames last season, he compiled some solid numbers.
He had a 3.84 ERA and a rock-solid 1.12 WHIP.
He is not a strikeout machine, but the Guardians know that, when healthy, he will contribute some solid ratios and keep the team in the game more often than not.
He hasn’t been healthy in 2022, though, as he has pitched only 54 frames.
Given the circumstances, before thinking about his performance, the Guardians’ primary focus now is getting him healthy.
A pitcher who can’t have full control of his wrist can’t be expected to post good numbers, so he will likely rest and rehab the ailment.
However, he remains without a set date to return.
