The 2022 Cleveland Guardians have received a lot of help from young players.
Andres Gimenez (23 years old) broke out, Steven Kwan is 24, Josh Naylor is 25, and several other contributors are 25 or younger, even in the pitching department.
The youth movement is also paying dividends: the Guards are 43-43, just 3.5 games out of first place in the AL Central when most analysts and observers had the Chicago White Sox running away with the division.
Things, however, are looking much, much more promising for the future.
The Guardians have one of the deepest and most impressive farm systems in baseball.
And with improvements by some of their players, and some other young stars graduating around the league, the number of prospects they have on MLB Pipeline’s top 100 list is increasing.
Jones Is The New Addition To MLB’s Top 100 Prospects List
Since Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Shane Baz graduated, Guardians infielder Nolan Jones made the list.
Now, there are eight Cleveland prospects in the top 100, which is amazing considering there are 30 MLB teams.
“That would make for EIGHT (8) Guardians prospects in the top 100. And only 1 (Jones) is with the club. The rest of the AL Central has a COMBINED SIX (6). That will drop to 3 once Lewis, Vinnie & Green graduate. Best is yet to come for Cleveland (and a lot of it),” a Guardians analyst tweeted.

The Athletic’s Zack Meisel helps us put things in context.
“Most prospects on MLB Pipeline’s new Top 100 list: 8: Guardians; 6: Dodgers, Rangers; 5: Pirates, Orioles, Yankees. Cleveland’s eight: Daniel Espino, George Valera, Gavin Williams, Gabriel Arias, Brayan Rocchio, Tyler Freeman, Logan Allen, Nolan Jones,” he wrote.

Only one of the eight, Jones, is currently with the team.
If today is bright, tomorrow is even brighter for the Guards.
