The Cleveland Guardians are falling short again.
Stephen Vogt’s team went from being the hottest squad in all of baseball to dropping game after game.
This couldn’t have happened at a worse possible time.
However, as shown by Guardians Prospective on X, this team still has a chance to make the playoffs.
They’re sitting just four games behind the final WL wild-card spot.
With 34 games left to play, the Guardians are 64-64 for the season.
Despite losing 4 straight and going (1-7) over their last 8 games the Cleveland #Guardians are still somehow only 4.0 games out of a wild card spot. They are just 3 games back in all important loss column with 34 games to play.#GuardsBall pic.twitter.com/qxu24Sm4Vc

They’ve been as resilient as they’ve been streaky.
It looked like they were peaking at the right time, but dropping seven out of eight and struggling at the plate again is quite worrisome at this point in the season.
This tough stretch has included multiple games in which they’ve failed to retain leads down the stretch.
Not having Emmanuel Clase on the mound is starting to become a problem, even though Cade Smith has also looked quite solid when his number has been called.
But in spite of the season-long struggles and the ups and downs, his team is still pretty much alive in the playoff race.
This cold stretch may have all but killed their chances of catching the Detroit Tigers atop the AL Central, although they still have a couple of series with them in their schedule.
They just have to get back to basics and play with the same competitive fire that helped them become the best team in baseball after the All-Star break, as tough as that may sound right now.
