Everything clicked for the Cleveland Guardians at the plate on Sunday
Playing against the Los Angeles Angeles to wrap up their first weekend of Cactus League play, the Guards put up 14 runs on the scoreboard against just two from LA.
Not only did the offense explode, but the pitchers were magnificent: Ben Lively, Kolby Allard, and Doug Nikhazy combined to throw six innings of one-run ball.
The day, however, belonged to the youth.
“What a day for recent Captains in 2025 Cactus League action today! ⬇️ (1/2): Joe Lampe (‘23) & C.J. Kayfus (‘24): back-to-back HR to begin bottom of the 5th inning. Cooper Ingle (‘23 & ‘24): 2-2, 2 RBI, BB (on his 23rd birthday, too! 🎉), Angel Genao (‘24): 2-2, R, RBI, BB, Jorge Burgos (‘23 & ‘24): 1-2, R, RBI single, Jose Devers (‘24): 1-3, R, 2B, Travis Bazzana (‘24) & Jacob Cozart (‘24): bases-loaded walk each,” Guardians prospects analyst Logan Potosky posted on X.

If you wanted to see fireworks on Sunday, all you needed to do was drive down to Goodyear Park.
Lampe and Kayfus each hit incredibly long and spectacular home runs.
So nice they had to do it twice 💣💣

Lampe’s drive was the most surprising of the two: he is a 24-year-old outfielder who took 406 plate appearances in Double-A last year and hit just four homers.
Kayfus is one of the best prospects in the organization, though, as he sent 17 balls over the fence between High-A and Double-A with above-average offensive performance.
Bazzana, the best prospect on the Guardians in the eyes of most of the industry, also contributed to the blowout, as did fellow top-ten prospects Angel Genao and Cooper Ingle.
The kids stole the show at Goodyear on Sunday, in what was a very productive day for the Guardians.
