The Cleveland Guardians have a phenomenal farm system.
It’s easily among the best in the league, and some would call it a top-five group.
One promising slugger, C.J. Kayfus, just enjoyed a fantastic stretch of games and showed off all his potential after being named the Eastern League Player of the Week.
“C.J. Kayfus is the Eastern League Player of the Week! In last week’s series against the Altoona Curve, Kayfus hit .516 (10-for-18) with one double, 2 triples, one home run, 3 RBI and a 1.652 OPS. The @AkronRubberDuck are currently 7-2 and will begin their series against the Erie Seawolves tomorrow at 6:05 p.m. ET,” GuardsInsider posted on X.

Kayfus plays first base, which is a deep position in Cleveland at the moment due to the presence of Carlos Santana and Kyle Manzardo in the majors and with fellow power prospect Ralphy Velazquez developing in lower levels.
Still, the Guardians are paying close attention to Kayfus’ development, and so are other teams potentially viewing him as a trade piece.
He just logged ten hits last week, and four of them went for extra bases.
The two triples certainly show he can also move his legs in addition to the power hitting that helped him, for example, accumulate 17 home runs in the minors last year.
His best attribute as a hitter might be his keen eye at the plate, though.
He is currently running a pristine 15.8 percent walk rate in eight games in the Double-A season and has always been in the double digits in his minor-league career.
The 23-year-old lefty masher definitely has a future in MLB, but it might not come in 2025.
He needs to keep working hard and developing.
So far, the 2025 campaign has been excellent for him with a .516/.605/.871 line.
A few more weeks like the one he just had and he will find himself in Triple-A in no time.
