About three weeks ago, in late July, the Cleveland Guardians reinstated star prospect Chase DeLauter from the injured list after he battled a fractured foot and a turf toe earlier in the season.
They sent him back to the level they intended him to play: Double-A.
As we discussed in this site, DeLauter’s numbers before getting hurt were not good.
He was hitting .194/.301/.290 over his first 17 games.
Now that he is healthy and getting into a rhythm at the plate, his true talent is starting to become evident.
His numbers are slowly creeping up and he has a chance to finish with a really good line.
In fact, he is currently carrying a seven-game hitting streak.
On Thursday, the outfield prospect crushed a three-home run in Double-A, his third of the season.
“DeLauter during his seven-game hit streak: 10-26, 4R, 1(2B), 2HR, 9RBI, 2BB, .385 AVG,” Guardians Prospective tweeted.

DeLauter was the Guardians’ 2022 first-round pick in the Draft.
He has obvious prospect pedigree and potential, and despite the fact injuries ruined most of his season, he is still just 22 years old.
For the season, he is slashing .240/.311/.385 with three homers and a 96 wRC+, which means he has been league-average offensively.
A few weeks ago, however, that wRC+ was awful, in the seventies range.
That speaks volumes of how much he has improved and how hot he is at the plate right now
Perhaps an MLB debut isn’t in the cards this season, but he might end up in Triple-A if he extends his hot streak.
