Cooper Ingle has responded to a brief demotion in about the best way possible, and the numbers he has put up since returning to Triple-A are hard to ignore.
The 24-year-old catcher, who spent time in the minors after a rough stretch during his first taste of the majors, went 2-4 with two runs, a double, a home run and three RBIs for Columbus in his latest outing. The home run traveled 409 feet with an exit velocity of 109.4 miles per hour, another sign of the raw power that has made Ingle one of the more interesting bats in Cleveland’s system this season.
Stats show just how strong Ingle’s stretch has been since being optioned.

It is exactly the kind of response an organization hopes to see from a young player after a difficult introduction to the major leagues, and it reinforces the belief within the organization that his bat is close to big league ready even if his first look did not go as planned.
Ingle’s power and on base skills stand out even more given that he offers defensive versatility, capable of catching as well as playing the outfield corners, a trait that adds to his long-term value whether Cleveland keeps developing him internally or considers him as part of the broader trade conversation heading into Monday’s deadline. His surge also comes at a notable time, with the Guardians offense searching for answers and the organization openly discussing what kind of help it might look to add before players become unavailable.
For now, Ingle’s role remains with Columbus, but a stretch like this only strengthens the case that he belongs in the conversation for a future opportunity in Cleveland.
