The Cleveland Guardians are not the most consistent offensive team out there.
They are capable of putting up 10 runs per game over a three-game stretch, just as easily as they can be shut out two games in a row.
With some regulars struggling to get going, it’s time to at least pay some attention to what Angel Martinez is doing in Triple-A.
No, the Guardians shouldn’t demote someone because he had a rough first two weeks, but it’s always important to be aware of potential call-ups and Martinez is definitely one of them.
“Cleveland #Guardians 23yr old switch-hitting OF prospect Angel Martinez rips a double to left field for Columbus in the 9th inning vs St. Paul. For Martinez it’s already his 6th double of the season. He’s currently hitting .344 with a .855 OPS,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

Martinez is lifting the ball much more often in the first eight games of his Triple-A season.
He lost the battle to be the Guardians’ second baseman to Gabriel Arias and Daniel Schneemann, but far from letting that affect him, he has proudly shown he belongs in the majors with a scintillating start in Columbus.
He is sporting a cool .855 OPS with that beautiful .344 batting average and boasts six extra-base hits.
That, in just eight games, is magnificent.
They are all doubles, but it’s impressive nonetheless.
Martinez has scored a whopping seven runs, too, and logged 11 hits.
He is not the best fielder in the world but he can play three infield spots and all three outfield positions.
If he keeps this up, there is a chance he will find himself back in the majors soon.
