The Cleveland Guardians have always taken pride in finding and developing young talent, and this season won’t be the exception to the rule. They’ve watched some of their best players dominate in winter ball, all while others continue to work on their games during the offseason. As shown by Guardians Prospective on X, that’s definitely the case with Alfonsin Rosario.
The 21-year-old outfield prospect has looked sharp back home in the Dominican Republic.
“Cleveland #Guardians 21yr old OF prospect Alfonsin Rosario taking live BP back home in the Dominican Republic. Rosario hit a career high 21 HR’s posting a 129 wRC+ in 2025. He should open the 2026 season at Double-A Akron,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.
They posted a clip of him taking live batting practice. He’s coming off hitting a career-high 21 home runs, all while posting an impressive 129 wRC+ in 2025. Per Guardians Prospective, he’s expected to open the 2026 campaign at Double-A Akron.
If he continues this ascending trend, it shouldn’t be long before Rosario makes his way to Triple-A Columbus to play for the Clippers. And, while he still needs to clear several hurdles, that would put him right on the brink of making the team.
The Guardians are desperately looking for an offensive spark in the outfield. C.J. Kayfus and George Valera looked like potential long-term solutions last season, and chances are that Chase DeLauter will also take the field from the very start of the season.
They have a trio of lefties in the outfield, with Steven Kwan also joining the mix. That should be more than enough to get by, but you can never have too much depth.
This team needs a spark on offense, and if young and talented players like Alfonsin Rosario continue to turn heads, it won’t be long before they also join the party.
