Andrew Walters didn’t do much for the Cleveland Guardians in 2025. Now, while he continues to recover from injury, he may have some bigger fish to fry. As reported by Guardians Prospective on X, the talented RHP just broke some major news.
Apparently, he’s about to get married:
“Congratulations to Cleveland Guardians RHP Andrew Walters on his engagement,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.
Walters underwent a season-ending injury in June. He had to repair his lat tendon, and, with a projected recovery timeline of 8-10 months, he’s now in danger of missing the start of the upcoming season. He’s currently on the 60-day Injured List.
A former second-round pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Walters made his debut in 2024 and made nine appearances for Stephen Vogt’s team in September after turning some heads during a brief stint with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers. Despite his lack of experience, he’s looked ahead of schedule and like someone who can play a big role on this team for years to come.
The 24-year-old right-hander has been mostly a reliever throughout the course of his entire career, which isn’t that common. He’s been used to coming out of the bullpen, and while his 13 percent walk rate is a bit concerning, he has a 2.17 ERA and a 36.3 percent strikeout rate in the minors. Hopefully, it won’t be long before we get to see him back on the mound.
This team could use some help and fresh arms in the bullpen, and while he’s more than likely to miss the start of the campaign, he can be a prime reinforcement in the second half of the season.
