The Cleveland Guardians are still there, showing the world they are a competitive team this year.
After sweeping the Oakland Athletics at home over the weekend, the Guards’ record is now 16-6.
That’s good enough for the best record in baseball as of Monday afternoon.
The Guards have played better ball than the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Texas Rangers, the Baltimore Orioles, the New York Yankees, and every contender in the book.
“The Cleveland Guardians have the best record in Major League Baseball. 1. Cleveland Guardians 16-6; 2. Atlanta Braves 14-6; 2. Milwaukee Brewers 14-6; 4. New York Yankees 15-7; 5. Baltimore Orioles 14-7,” Cleveland sportswriter Hayden Grove tweeted.

Cleveland has won four straight contests if we go back to the series finale against the Boston Red Sox, and have also taken seven of their last eight.
Without Shane Bieber, Gavin Williams, Trevor Stephan, and with Jose Ramirez struggling to get going, the Guardians have been able to overcome adversity like no other team in the league has this year.
The road toward the postseason is long: even with the 16-6 start, the season is 162 games long and a lot of things can happen between now and October.
However, Guardians fans are excited because the roster is highly competitive and manager Stephen Vogt is earning rave reviews so far this year.
Once the struggling stars get going and the young players like Brayan Rocchio, Tyler Freeman, Tanner Bibee, and Logan Allen find more consistency, the team should be able to overcome other slumps and keep improving all-around.
This Cleveland team definitely looks legit.
