The Cleveland Guardians have lost nine straight games since June 26.
The offensive performance over those nine contests has been, for lack of a better word, abysmal.
The team just can’t seem to buy a hit, let alone a run these days.
After their 1-0 loss to the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, the Guardians have scored one run in their past three games, covering a total of 28 innings.
That’s next-level bad.
Insider Zack Meisel offered some numbers to put things in perspective.
The Guardians’ pitching has been excellent, yet the offense keeps dragging the team down.
“Guardians: nine straight losses (5 shutouts, 13 total runs), allowed a total of four runs the last three games; lost all three, have scored in six of 82 innings during this skid, have scored in multiple innings in only 12 of 27 games the last month, face Tarik Skubal and Hunter Brown in the next two days,” Meisel posted on X.

Cleveland hasn’t even scored in five of those nine games, and scored more than three runs only twice.
As Meisel states, they have been scoreless in 76 of the 82 innings played over those nine contests, and things are going to get ugly over the next two games as they will face two of the best pitchers in the American League.
The most frustrating development, however, is seeing how the front office fails to take any action to reverse the situation, especially given that they have in-house solutions.
Prospects Chase DeLauter and C.J. Kayfus are both ready to contribute at the MLB level and would fill positions of immediate need.
But the guys making the calls aren’t lifting a finger.
Not even Shane Bieber will take this team to the playoffs if Chris Antonetti doesn’t address the offense soon.
