The Cleveland Guardians took Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana with the No. 1 pick of the 2024 MLB Draft.
A decorated college hitter, the Guardians sent him to the Lake County Captains of High-A to get his feet wet and start his development in professional ball.
After having some nice games to open his pro career, the infielder is currently in a bit of a slump in the low minors.
No one is overly concerned, but Bazzana is still not dominating the level in the tiny sample size he has played.
“Cleveland #Guardians 22yr old (2B) prospect Travis Bazzana in a bit of a slump currently 0-12 with a walk and hit by pitch over his last three games for Lake County,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

Bazzana, who hit .407 with 28 home runs in 60 games with Oregon State in his last collegiate season, is still adjusting to professional baseball.
Before the Captains took the field on Friday night, Bazzana was hitting .223/.354/.394 with three home runs and a .748 OPS.
He is not really struggling (except for his last three games, as noted by Guardians Prospective), but more was expected from him.
He still has plenty of time to right the ship and show more consistency at the plate.
The power-speed combo, at least, has been there: in 25 games, Bazzana has seven doubles, three homers, and four stolen bases.
As long as he can make hard contact more consistently and lower the strikeouts a bit (he has 30 in just 113 plate appearances), the numbers will likely start to creep up.
