The Cleveland Guardians have always kept an eye on South America and the Caribbean to find young talent. That approach has worked well for them, so there’s no need to change it.
That’s why it’s not a surprise to hear that they’re keeping tabs on another potential star. More than that, they are considered the favorites to acquire his services.
According to Guardians Prospective, Cleveland is in line to sign switch-hitting shortstop prospect Sebastian Torres, a native of Venezuela who’s training at the Alex Salazar Academy.

The team will have to be patient with him and keep tabs on his development for quite a while. He’s not eligible to sign with any MLB organization until the 2028 international signing day.
The Guardians have a long history of finding and developing middle infielders. Of course, it takes a lot for a player to find success in the minors, and Torres is going to have to put in a lot of work, stay healthy, and have fortune on his side to fulfill his destiny as an MLB player.
Even so, given the way the Guardians have always excelled at identifying the best prospects, it’s hard not to feel excited about almost everyone they set their sights on. Fans will have to wait, but hopefully, Torres will turn out to be yet another success story.
