The Cleveland Guardians continue to look for talent wherever they can.
They have been quite successful at finding prospects in South America and the Caribbean, and that’s likely to continue.
According to Guardians Prospective, Cleveland is the favorite to sign catcher prospect Carlos Ordonez.
The native of Venezuela is training at Future Stars Baseball Academy.
The Guardians will have to wait a while longer before getting him on board, as he isn’t eligible to join an MLB organization until the 2027 international signing day.

The Guardians, like most small-market teams, know that the best way to get and keep a competitive edge is to find and develop young players.
They won’t spend money like other teams do, and having an elite farm system is the safest path to contention.
Of course, most players never live up to expectations, and there are so many factors that can impact a player’s career and influence their path.
Then again, given Cleveland’s reputation and track record of success, as well as its patient approach to player development, it’s hard to think of a better organization for any prospect.
Hopefully, this report will be the first of many times Ordonez makes news in a long and successful career.
