The Cleveland Guardians have more than enough young talent in their ranks.
That doesn’t mean they have to stop looking.
With that in mind, they’ve set their sights on yet another budding star from Venezuela.
According to Guardians Prospective, Cleveland is the favorite to sign catcher prospect Jonar Melendez.

He’s training with Jose Abolua and Hender Martinez.
As exciting as this news might sound, Melendez won’t be eligible to sign with an MLB organization until the 2028 international signing day.
A lot can happen until then, but for now, there’s a reason to feel optimistic.
The Guardians have a long history of finding and developing international prospects.
They’ve always had one of the most productive farm systems in baseball, which is one of the many reasons players are eager to join the organization over so many other options.
It knows how to bring the best out of them and always preaches patience with them, sometimes to a fault.
Hopefully, Melendez will stay healthy and focused on his goals, and while the team will have to wait for him, it might be worth it.
Cleveland is coming off another playoff appearance that fell short of the World Series, losing to the Detroit Tigers in the AL Wild Card round after overtaking them with a historic comeback to win the AL Central.
