The Cleveland Guardians are always looking to add more young talent to their ranks. They’ve fared quite well in that regard with players from South America and the Caribbean.
That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that they’re still fully committed to finding more talent there. If anything, they should be able to add a plethora of prospects pretty soon.
According to a report by Guardians Prospective on X, switch-hitting shortstop prospect Karel Naranjo could soon join the very long list of international talent for this team. A native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he’s currently training with Mickey’s Prospect Academy. However, just like many other future colleagues, he won’t be eligible to sign his deal until the 1/15/26 International signing day.

The Guardians have a long and well-documented history of identifying, developing, and polishing young players. That’s especially true with middle infielders.
That makes them a perfect organization to get a player like Naranjo. He should be looking forward to joining an organization that’s known for caring about its players, not rushing them into action, and making sure they’re fully ready to play by the time they get their chance.
Of course, it takes a whole lot for a young player to make their way to the majors. Most of the prospects every team signs never get to experience that.
Still, everybody has to start somewhere. Hopefully, this will be just the first time we talk about Naranjo, and he will turn out to be one of the young stars of the game.
