The Cleveland Guardians will host the St. Louis Cardinals at Progressive Field for a weekend series.
Both teams are trying to win as many games as possible to get closer in their respective Wild Card races.
Cleveland is finally leaving behind a rough series vs. the Toronto Blue Jays that included some controversy in Thursday’s finale.
Ahead of the new series, the front office decided to make a potentially impactful move for the bullpen: they have, at long last, activated left-handed reliever Erik Sabrowski.

Sabrowski, a key component of the Guards’ late-season bullpen mix, started the 2025 campaign on the shelf with left elbow inflammation.
He received anti-inflammatory shots, rest, physical therapy, and pitched a rather lengthy rehab assignment on the Guardians’ minor league system.
He is returning to Cleveland’s bullpen to be one of their go-to southpaws, exactly three months after Opening Day.
Last year, Sabrowski made it to the majors in the stretch run and put up a brilliant 0.00 ERA in 12.2 innings, with an even better 4/19 BB/SO ratio.
He was solid in the postseason and looked poised to take one of the Guardians’ bullpen spots this year, before his own elbow got in the way.
He pitched nine frames across three different minor league levels, in which he posted a 4.00 ERA.
His last rehab outing came on Wednesday at Triple-A Columbus, when he tossed a clean inning with a strikeout, allowing just one hit.
It may take Sabrowski a few outings to return to last year’s form, but once he does, he is likely in the bullpen to stay.
