Baseball and life are both full of good days and extremely disappointing ones.
For Cleveland Guardians relief pitcher Hunter Gaddis, this weekend has been intense: on Friday, he tossed two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
On Saturday, however, he has been placed on the bereavement list.
“Cleveland #Guardians transactions: RHP Hunter Gaddis placed on the bereavement list, RHP Nic Enright promoted from Columbus,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

The bereavement list usually means that MLB players can take a few days off due to severe illness or death of that player’s or his spouse’s immediate family. The minimum period is 3 days, and the maximum is 7 days.
It means Gaddis, who boasts an incredible 0.86 ERA for the season, is not having the best of times off the field.
There is not much information as to what exactly is going on with Gaddis’ family, but the entire Guardians organization and their fans sure hope he can overcome whatever issue life is currently throwing at him.
He should be back in a few days.
Replacing him on the roster will be fellow right-hander Nic Enright.
Enright is a talented man recently added to the 40-man roster.
He has had to go through a ton of adversity himself, overcoming a serious disease to make his MLB debut in the upcoming Guardians games.
In the minor leagues, Enright was enjoying a nice year, with a 2.00 ERA in nine innings.
