Last year, southpaw Erik Sabrowski took advantage of his opportunity and won a spot in the Cleveland Guardians bullpen for the stretch run and the postseason.
Several relevant lefties went down with injuries in 2024, so the team put its trust in Sabrowski and he didn’t disappoint with a perfect ERA in 12.2 innings, with a whopping 19 strikeouts.
He was set to open the 2025 campaign as arguably the top lefty in the bullpen, together with Tim Herrin.
However, a battle with some elbow inflammation has delayed his 2025 debut to this point.
Little by little, Sabrowski is starting to get closer to the majors.
On Tuesday, he took an important step toward his return to the active roster.
“Cleveland Guardians LHP Erik Sabrowski has been assigned to Triple-A Columbus to continue his rehab assignment. Sabrowski has already made three rehab appearances between the Arizona Complex League and Double-A Akron,” Guardians Prospective posted on X.

His first two rehab appearances in the Complex League were full of control issues, as he walked four batters in an inning.
He was much better in a Double-A game, with one walk, two strikeouts, and no runs allowed in one frame.
Sabrowski is expected to pitch at least a couple of games in Triple-A, just to test out his stuff and command against top competition before being called up to the majors.
In any case, his return is now a matter of days, not weeks, and that’s excellent news for the Guardians’ bullpen.
They could use a fresh, talented left-handed arm and Sabrowski fits the description.
