Despite staying relatively quiet at the trade deadline, there are still a few things that the Cleveland Guardians have to look forward to as we enter the stretch run of the season.
This morning, it was announced that the Guardians would be calling up top infield prospect Tyler Freeman from Triple-A Columbus.
Freeman has posted nothing but good numbers down in the minor leagues.
Last year at Double-A, he hit .323 with two home runs and 19 RBI.
With Columbus this year, he’s continued to produce, hitting .279 with six homers and 44 RBI.
Guardians insider Zack Meisel tweeted the news about Freeman’s promotion early this morning.

Guardians Promote Freeman
The Guardians have chosen to focus their energy on their farm system, which is pretty stacked right now.
The 23-year-old Freeman is finally getting a chance to come to the big leagues and give the Guardians a boost as they look to try and catch the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.
Freeman can help with that if he keeps swinging a hot bat, and the front office’s faith in their prospects will be rewarded.
The Guardians have had a ton of players make their Major League debuts this year.
From Steven Kwan, Oscar Gonzalez, and Nolan Jones to Freeman, whenever Freeman gets into a game, the Guardians have been getting solid contributions from the players in their pipeline.
Add those players to an already solid nucleus filled with youth and experience, and the potential for a really solid team is there, one that can compete with the Twins and the Chicago White Sox.
Freeman should fit right in with the Guardians’ young stars as he looks to give them the boost they need to compete for AL Central supremacy.
