The Cleveland Guardians are tied with the Baltimore Orioles and the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in baseball at 70-49 as of Tuesday afternoon.
They have won three games in a row after recently enduring a seven-game skid, and are showing the world that their brilliant performance earlier in the season was no fluke.
In case you thought the team would cease playing hard at some point, or maybe relax a bit, that won’t be happening.
Their manager Stephen Vogt won’t allow it.
In fact, a team insider put together a list of things to play for in the last few weeks of the season.
They are all important and relevant to the organization’s upcoming playoffs campaign.
“Multiple avenues for #ForTheLand to stay hungry through end of regular season: AL Central title, AL top 2 seed for WC round bye, Best record in #MLB (secures home field advantage thru entire playoffs). #Guards currently own AL tiebreakers over BAL, BOS, MIN, SEA,” Jensen Lewis tweeted.

Winning the AL Central title brings prestige and a sense of fulfillment to the entire roster.
Not only that, but if the Guardians earn a top two seed in the junior circuit, they will automatically get a couple of days of extra rest because they won’t be playing the Wild Card round: they would go directly into the Division Series.
Earning the league’s best record secures homefield advantage through the entire postseason, and the Guardians are very strong playing at Progressive Field.
There are a myriad of incentives to play hard from this point to the end of the regular season, and that will certainly be the case.
