The Cleveland Guardians entered the 2025 MLB season with high expectations.
They came off shocking the world last season and reached the ALCS when not many people thought they would.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t keep their foot on the gas and fell short when it mattered most.
Then, in the offseason, fans and analysts doubted whether they could replicate their success this season, especially given some of the moves they made.
Notably, that’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that, despite their positive record, oddsmakers still don’t seem to love their chances of going the distance.
As shown by Codify on X, FanGraphs gives the Guardians just a 46% chance of making the playoffs.

That’s right in the middle of the pack, ranking No. 13 in the league in that regard.
Then again, this can all change in the blink of an eye.
The Detroit Tigers are currently given a 90% chance of making the playoffs, even though the Guardians sit just one spot behind them and trail them by 2.5 games.
The Guardians have the third-most wins in the American League, and they’ve played much better baseball than people give them credit for.
Even with Emmanuel Clase struggling mightily throughout the first stretch of the season, Stephen Vogt’s team has continued to find ways to get the job done.
They’ve also been quite solid down the stretch, scoring over half of their runs past the fifth inning.
The Guardians will have to keep proving the doubters wrong, and they certainly have more than enough resources to do so.
