The Cleveland Guardians return to action with a three-game set against the Athletics, desperately needing to get hot to keep this season from going down the drain.
With the team struggling the way it has been, there has been more focus on Cleveland’s minor league system to get familiar with any potential upgrades.
Unfortunately, one prospect was recently dealt a significant blow, as 19-year-old right-handed pitcher Jacob Remily had Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of the season.
Cleveland #Guardians 19yr old RHP prospect Jacob Remily recently underwent TJ surgery and will miss the rest of the 2025 season.
Remily drafted in 2024 made his pro-debut this year pitching in just four games in the Arizona Complex League before the injury.

Remily pitched four games in the Arizona Complex League this season, posting a 5.63 ERA after giving up 14 runs in 14 innings in 2024 in the MLB Draft League.
A 16th-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, this is not the ideal start for his professional career, though the bright side is that he is at least getting the surgery out of the way so he can get back sooner rather than later.
Pitchers getting Tommy John surgery has become too common as teams are prioritizing high velocity, so Remily is unfortunately the latest entry to an ever-growing club.
Having that surgery at this point in the year likely means Remily might not be back until the 2027 season, which is an unfortunate situation for a player looking to establish himself.
