The Cleveland Guardians had a better first half of the 2022 MLB season than expected.
Their 46-44 first half of the season left them in second place in the American League Central, just two games back of the Minnesota Twins and 2.5 games back of the Toronto Blue Jays for the third and final AL Wild Card spot.
The Guardians are very much alive and find themselves right in the thick of the postseason race.
They’re coming off a three-game sweep over the Detroit Tigers and will open up the second half at Guaranteed Rate Field against the Chicago White Sox.
One Guardians fan on Twitter pointed out that there were a lot of positives in the first half and reasons for the fans to be excited.
-Cleveland takes a power hitting OF prospect first round
-We've seen 10 rookie debuts in the first half
-We are in second place despite having the youngest team in baseball by far
-Jose Ramirez would be extended long-term

Cause For Optimism
With everything listed by this fan, there really are a lot of positives to take out of the first half for the Guardians and there is cause for optimism.
Think about it.
This team wasn’t expected to do anything this year.
They didn’t do much of anything over the offseason.
Yet here they are, right in the thick of the postseason chase, with several players having emerged as key contributors.
It’s also worth noting that Jose Ramirez was extended long term.
The Guardians were able to lock up their superstar after a ton of speculation that a trade was possible.
The MLB Draft this past week was a big positive for them as well, as they took slugging outfielder Chase DeLauter in the first round.
All and all, there really is a lot to be excited about if you’re a Guardians fan.
The team is right in the thick of it and will be an interesting team to watch at the trade deadline.
