The regular season is almost in the books and postseason baseball is right around the corner. The Cleveland Guardians will be playing October baseball for the third year in a row. There are still some big decisions to make before the Guardians begin their hunt for a World Series.
The Guardians must cut down their roster from 28 players down to 26 before postseason play begins. They must finalize a roster for the ALDS, which is always stressful as the team cannot make any moves once the roster is set.

This is never an easy decision, but the Guardians still have time to make a final decision on their roster. Everyone wants to play October and help their team win a World Series, but the organization needs to make sure it brings along the right players for this series.
Among everyone, right-hander reliever Craig Yoho is probably the easiest cut for the playoff roster. The Guardians acquired Yoho at the trade deadline, and it hasn’t worked out for them. Across 19 appearances, Yoho owns a 6.87 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and a 23/10 K/BB ratio with Cleveland. He has allowed five earned runs over his last three appearances. Yoho isn’t pitching well enough at the moment to be trusted in postseason play.
The other cut isn’t as easy to make, but utility man Daniel Schneemann might get axed off the roster. In 90 games, Schneemann is slashing .205/.273/.318 with six home runs, 29 RBI, and six steals this season. He has been mainly playing a bench role with only four at-bats over the last five games. It’s unlikely that Schneemann would be used in the postseason unless it’s as a defensive replacement or pinch runner.
There is plenty of speculation on who fans think might get cut over the next few days. Guardians’ fans can make their own guesses this week. At the end of the day, it truly doesn’t matter as long as the Guardians bring along the right players to win the ALDS.
