The Cleveland Guardians lost 6-0 on Sunday to complete a sweep at the hands of the Seattle Mariners, which was the team’s fourth consecutive series loss, dropping the Guardians’ record to .500 at 35-35.
Cleveland generated just four hits (all singles) and a walk, and the team has still scored more than four runs just one time in all of June, which is why one analyst believes the team could make some surprising moves at the deadline.
Aaron Goldhammer of ESPN Cleveland said on air Monday morning that the Guardians could turn into sellers at the deadline at this rate, and because there are so many teams in the American League who think they have a shot this season, Cleveland could be sellers at the deadline and might see what it can get for Steven Kwan.

If the Guardians are sellers at the deadline, Kwan and Emmanuel Clase would likely be the first two veterans on most teams’ wish list, assuming Jose Ramirez isn’t available.
It would be a dramatic decision on the heels of an ALCS appearance, but Goldhammer is right in pointing out how the team is at a crossroads.
The roadmap for this getting better involves some of the prospects coming up and producing offensively, as the top eight prospects in the minors are all position players, according to MLB.com’s prospect rankings.
This offense is holding the team back, and unless the Guardians want to be aggressive and bring in a bat or two, or call up some prospects, it’s hard to see this getting much better unless David Fry or Lane Thomas can start to produce like they have in years past.
Cleveland is in a tough spot, and the next few weeks should dictate how the front office operates at the trade deadline.
