The Cleveland Guardians suited up on Sunday with the hope of taking the rubber game in their 3-game set against the Boston Red Sox after splitting a doubleheader on Saturday, but the Sox had other plans as they handed the Guardians a brutal 13-3 whooping.
Cleveland committed an uncharacteristic four errors in the loss, with outfielder Angel Martinez making a pair of throwing errors while Daniel Schneemann and Will Wilson each committed an error as well.
Cleveland posted the score on X with a simple caption saying “short memory” as the Guardians look to move on immediately from this awful showing.

Logan Allen surrendered nine hits and seven earned runs in his 4.1 innings of work while Brayan Bello twirled six innings of 3-run ball for the Red Sox, with all three runs coming on Nolan Jones’ 3-run homer in the sixth inning.
All five pitchers who took the mound for the Guardians gave up at least a run, including catcher Austin Hedges, who pitched the ninth inning to preserve the bullpen after the doubleheader.
All five members of Cleveland’s starting rotation now have an ERA over 4.15, while the offense ranks 20th in the league in scoring and the team has a -18 run differential overall.
The 15-12 start isn’t bad, but things have to improve on a granular level if the Guardians are going to get hot and start piling up wins en route to another AL Central crown.
The Guardians have to put this loss behind them immediately as they begin a 4-game set with the Minnesota Twins on Monday.
