The 2024 Cleveland Guardians keep achieving things in the regular season.
They secured their place in the postseason a few days ago, and now,.on Tuesday, they beat the Cincinnati Reds 6-1 to get a top-two record in the American League.
What does that mean? It means that they will get a first-round bye in the playoffs: while most teams will risk elimination in the Wild Card round, the Guards will start their journey in the Division Series.
“First-round bye clinched!l Cleveland will get five days off between the end of the regular season and the start of the division series on Oct. 5 at Progressive Field,” WKYC 3News posted on X.

In recent times, in many occasions the team that gets the bye loses the Division Series to the team that stayed more active and played the Wild Card round.
This has caused many fans to question the real worth of the first-round bye.
However, it’s always advantageous to make it to the next round directly instead of risking being ousted in the Wild Card.
In addition to that, the players have had a long, grueling season and will surely welcome the five-day break.
Up next for the Guardians is trying to make a run at home field advantage through the American League Championship Series.
They have secured having that advantage in the Division Series, but to do it in the ALCS, they must finish with the best record in the junior circuit.
Right now, they are 91-67, just 1.5 games behind the New York Yankees.
There is still a chance, but the Guardians will need to maintain their focus and ask for some help from the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates.
