The Cleveland Guardians have been one of the best teams in baseball this season.
They just swept the Toronto Blue Jays and did it convincingly.
Several players have been behind their success, but the one that has increased their ceiling the most has been, without a doubt, David Fry.
Everybody expected Jose Ramirez, Josh Naylor, Steven Kwan and Andres Gimenez to be rock-solid, but nobody had Fry enjoying the kind of breakout he is currently experiencing.
Fry got hurt on Sunday’s game, and the entire Guardians Nation was holding it’s breath until hearing a positive update.
Elbow inflammation, which is what he reported to the medical team and the ailment that forced him out of Sunday’s game, often leads to much more serious ailments, such as ligament damage.
However, Fry is in the Guardians lineup announced by the team on Monday afternoon to open a key series against the Baltimore Orioles.

He is batting fifth, behind cleanup hitter Josh Naylor and ahead of outfielder Will Brennan.
There wasn’t a specific play that signaled an injury for Fry.
Bo Naylor entered Sunday’s game in his place in the second frame.
Fortunately for Cleveland, they will still have the man with the unexpected .312/.429/.526 line, eight home runs, 31 RBI and .955 OPS.
Fry is probably playing a bit over his head, but there have been sustainable skill gains and he now looks like a legitimate middle-of-the-order producer for Cleveland, one that is capable of playing multiple defensive positions (including catcher!) as a bonus.
