The Cleveland Guardians might not have the opportunity to go far this season, but that doesn’t mean everything’s lost.
If anything, they have plenty of reasons to look forward to the future.
The Guardians have always taken pride in their farm system, and they could add another gem to their ranks.
According to Guardians Prospective, they’re the favorites to sign promising shortstop prospect John Cruz.

Cruz has turned plenty of heads and has several suitors, but the Guardians seem to be in the lead to acquire his services.
He won’t be eligible to sign a contract until the 2027 international signing day.
Of course, a lot can happen between now and then, both good and bad, but scouts are optimistic about his future.
The Guardians have a long history of finding and developing stellar middle infielders.
They already have a strong group of prospects at the position and will most likely add to that list in the 2025 MLB Draft.
Then again, a team can never have too much depth in the minors, as just a handful of players make their way to the top.
The Guardians do not compete with big-market teams in signing MLB free agents, and as such, they have to rely on their scouting and development to compete at the highest level.
