The Cleveland Guardians did not see any reason to change things up after Friday’s rainout. Game 4 of the American League Championship Series against the Tampa Bay Rays was pushed back a day after storms soaked Progressive Field, but Stephen Vogt will send out the exact same group he had planned to use on Friday night. Cleveland leads the best of seven series two games to one, and a win on Saturday would put the Guardians just one victory away from their first World Series trip since 2016. The lineup will face Rays right hander Nick Martinez, who has not allowed an earned run in thirteen innings against Cleveland this season.
MLB.com’s Tim Stebbins shared the batting order on Saturday afternoon.
“Saturday’s Guardians’ lineup for Game 4 of the ALCS is unchanged from Friday’s postponement,” Stebbins posted.

Steven Kwan will lead off and play left field, with Petey Halpin once again getting the start in center. José Ramírez will bat second and play third base, followed by Chase DeLauter in right field and Jo Adell at designated hitter. Nathaniel Lowe will play first base and hit fifth, Travis Bazzana will play second and bat sixth, and Patrick Bailey will catch and hit seventh. Halpin hits eighth, and Brayan Rocchio rounds out the order at shortstop. Shawn Armstrong will open the game on the mound.
Ramírez has been the most productive bat in the series. He is 6-12 through the first three games of the ALCS, and his two hits on Thursday pushed him further up the franchise’s all time postseason hits list. He passed Kenny Lofton for second place during Game 2 and now sits just six hits behind Omar Vizquel for the top spot.
DeLauter has also been a tough out. The rookie went 3-4 with a homer in Game 1 and reached base three times in Game 2. Through three games, he has four hits, two doubles, a home run and three walks.
The bottom of the order has delivered some of the biggest moments of the series, too. Bailey launched a game tying homer in Game 1, and Halpin’s two run blast in the fifth inning of Game 3 gave Cleveland the lead for good. Lowe has driven in three runs, including the go ahead two run single in Game 1 and the opening run in Game 3.
There are a few bats the Guardians would love to see wake up. Adell has just one hit in the series, although it was a two run double that helped put Game 1 away. Rocchio entered Game 3 in a deep postseason slump before collecting a single, and Bazzana is looking for his first big hit of the ALCS after a strong finish to the regular season.
Martinez will present a challenge. The veteran posted a 3.10 ERA over 31 starts during the regular season and has dominated Cleveland in his outings against them. The Guardians will try to work counts and get into a Rays bullpen that includes closer Bryan Baker, who has been nearly perfect this postseason.
On the mound, Armstrong will be tasked with getting through the top of the Rays’ order. He has not allowed a run in 5 1/3 innings this postseason, and Joey Cantillo, Tanner Bibee, Slade Cecconi and possibly Foster Griffin are available behind him.
