The Cleveland Guardians are scuffling a bit in Spring Training so far with just a 2-6 record and some concerning performances on both sides of the ball, but it’s still early, and luckily, these games don’t matter as everyone is just getting their feet wet before the marathon regular season.
Most of the team’s regulars have already gotten into action, but one of their best is yet to debut and is set to get into his first Spring Training action on Monday.
Guardians Prospective shared on X that superstar closer Emmanuel Clase will make his Spring Training debut on Monday against the Seattle Mariners.
Cleveland #Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase will make his spring training debut today vs the Mariners.

Clase is likely eager to get on the field and officially turn the page on last year after giving up eight earned runs in eight innings of postseason work after giving up just five throughout the entirety of the regular season.
The star closer hasn’t been injured and the team has just been bringing him along slowly to prepare for his typical heavy regular season workload.
Clase appeared in 81 games last season, including the playoffs, which was his fourth year in a row appearing in over 70 games.
Few relievers, if any, have been more durable than Clase, but the team needs him at his best in October and not March, so there is no issue in bringing him along slowly and giving him a light workload in Spring Training.
Pitching coach Carl Willis shared that from a velocity perspective, Clase is already ahead of where he has been in previous Spring Trainings and has thrown over a dozen bullpen sessions already.
