To say Franmil Reyes‘ 2022 season hasn’t gone as he, or the Cleveland Guardians, would have liked would be an understatement.
Before Wednesday’s loss to the Detroit Tigers, he was slashing a poor .211/.260/.346 with just six homers in 200 plate appearances.
His bat had something to say during the afternoon, though:

This is a cool reminder of what Reyes can do.
For example, he hit 30 home runs last year, and his lowest career OPS has been .795.
This year, the Franimal is at a meager .606.
If he is healthy, that number should go up in a hurry.
As you might imagine, the 40-40 Guardians need Franimal like a human being needs water to live.
Reyes May Be Heating Up At The Right Time For Cleveland
There is not much power or thump in the Guardians’ offense, and if anybody has a proven track record of providing them, it’s Reyes.
After his home run on Wednesday afternoon (a single run in an otherwise forgettable 8-2 loss to the Tigers to complete a sweep), Reyes is hitting .212/.260/.360 with seven blasts and a .620 OPS.
He still has a long way to go to get back to being the hitter we all know he is capable of being, but the Guardians aren’t about to lose hope.
And, as it turns out, he is heating up.
If you were in a fantasy league, this would be a perfect time to acquire Reyes on the cheap: he is slashing .259/.250/.667 in his last seven games, with three home runs.
He has also been solid in his last 15, compiling a .250/.271/.554 line with four round-trippers and 10 RBI.
The Franimal may be rounding into form, and that’s music for the Guardians’ ears.
