The Cleveland Guardians have been up and down this season.
We’ve seen the best and worst versions of them, and it’s safe to say that some of the issues they’ve had weren’t a part of the equation before the start of the season.
Nevertheless, despite that, the Guardians are still 19-14 on the season, and they’re not that far behind the division-leading Detroit Tigers.
That’s why former team legend Carlos Baerga isn’t too worried about them.
When asked his thoughts on the Guardians’ record outside of the division, the former star claimed that teams usually go through these kinds of stretches, especially at the beginning of the season, so there is no need to sound the alarms just yet.
“You’re going to go through that during the beginning of the year,” Baerga said. “Last year, we started like that. We started really good and went down a little bit. I think we just need to be consistent. At least, our pitching staff, I want the starter to go five innings. If we go five innings, we’re going to be okay.”

The Guardians are coming off turning a lot of heads last season.
Not many people expected them to make it so far into the playoffs, much less all the way to the ALCS.
Expectations were a little lower this season, given some of the moves they made, but they were still expected to be a contender.
Unfortunately, Emmanuel Clase’s struggles raised questions over the league’s top closer and bullpen, but he seems to be regaining his form.
Now, it’s time for the starting rotation to also do its part, as this team isn’t going to rake its way to wins very often.
All in all, it’s still way too early to be worried about this team, especially now that they’re five games above .500 after 33 outings.
