The Cleveland Guardians have officially reached 21 wins for the season.
They’re still trailing the Detroit Tigers for the division lead, but they’ve looked better than some analysts anticipated before the start of the season.
Notably, that’s why former team star Carlos Baerga believes they’re just getting started.
Talking on the latest edition of his podcast, the former Guardians great went as far as to state that the team would make it to the World Series, and while he didn’t know who they were going to face, he was 100% confident in Stephen Vogt’s team’s abillity to reach the big stage:
“It’s hard to say who’s going to the World Series—well, Cleveland [Guardians] is going to the World Series,” Baerga said. “I don’t know who’s going to be the one from the National League, but I know we’re going to be there, and you’re going to be there with us.”

Of course, he’s pretty biased, so one has to take his words with a grain of salt.
Nevertheless, this team had essentially the same core of players when they made it all the way to the American League Championship Series last season, so it’s not that far-fetched to think that could be the case again this time around.
Not many people liked the Guardians’ chances of reaching that stage last season, and while they ran out of gas in that series against the New York Yankees, they still proved the doubters wrong.
Sometimes, teams need to get their hearts broken to learn from their struggles and mistakes before getting the monkey off their backs.
There’s still plenty of baseball to be played, and this team isn’t perfect by any means, but that’s the beauty of this sport, and we’ve seen crazier things happen so many times in the past.
