The Cleveland Guardians entered the 2025 MLB season with some major question marks.
They moved on from some of their veterans, and they weren’t necessarily loaded with star power.
On top of that, their once-great bullpen and the best closer in baseball struggled mightily out of the gate.
Fortunately, the team has now gotten back on track, and they’re looking more like the dominant team they were last season.
With that in mind, former Guardians star Carlos Baerga predicted that Stephen Vogt’s team would go even further this season.
In the latest edition of his podcast, Baerga stated that the Guardians would return to the ALCS, but he firmly expects them to get to the big game this time around:
“Last year, in the playoffs, we had the opportunity,” Baerga said. “We were so close to going to the World Series. I know the Yankees have the power and they have everything, but our team last year was special. This year, I think we can do it again. I think we’re going to do better.”

It’s still too early in the season to be talking about parades.
Then again, there’s no reason to believe this team can’t go all the way.
Their bullpen should get back to its dominant ways at some point, and the starting rotation has been better than anticipated.
The Guardians will also get Shane Bieber back at some point.
Of course, the Guardians don’t boast a star-studded lineup like the New York Yankees, but it’s not like that was the case last season, either.
Despite entering the year as a borderline playoff hopeful, they still were just a couple of wins away from reaching the World Series, and while they didn’t get the job done, that kind of experience can help any team build some strong momentum.
