The Cleveland Guardians might not have the flashiest players in the league, but they definitely have one of the best and most underrated.
Steven Kwan continues to make strides and improve in all aspects of the game.
And while he doesn’t usually get enough recognition from the mainstream media like other players from big markets, former Guardians star Carlos Baerga still wanted to give him some flowers.
In the latest edition of his show, the legendary second baseman went as far as to compare the Guardians’ outfielder with AL MVP candidate Aaron Judge:
“Steven Kwan, he keeps doing it, man. Every day, he’s been very good. I think he and Aaron Judge are the guys that step up every day. They might miss one day, 0-for-4, but the next day, they get three. He’s improving every year,” Baerga said.

Of course, perhaps we should take these words with a grain of salt, as Judge is having an otherworldly season and is one of the absolute best players in the game.
Then again, that doesn’t mean that Kwan isn’t special and on the rise.
He went 1-for-4 with one stolen base in the Guardians’ 5-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
With that performance, he took his on-base streak to 11 games.
He’s a very productive lead-off hitter, and the Guardians have won 13 of the 20 games in which he’s gotten on base and they’ve scored first.
He’s now 15-for-43 with seven walks, seven runs scored, three doubles, two RBI, and two stolen bases during that eleven-game streak.
He’s also fifth in the league in batting average this season, and he has the third-lowest strikeout rate at just 8.6%
Kwan is a superstar in the making, and while he still has a ways to go to be like Judge, he’s certainly going in the right direction.
