The Cleveland Guardians brought back Nolan Jones to get some offensive boost this season.
So far, he’s done a solid job, and while the team is 2-4 through six games, he’s shown some signs of promise.
With that in mind, former Guardians player Carlos Baerga claimed that Jones’s addition would be great for Jhonkensy Noel, as he will bring the heat as a big competitor.
Talking on his show, Baerga praised Jones for not being afraid of the moment and being eager to get on the field and pinch-hit regardless of the context and the situation.
“I think it’s going to be really good for the team,” Baerga said.
Do you think bringing in Nolan Jones is good competition for Jhonkensy Noel? #GuardsBall

He also wished for him to get at least 100 at-bats because he’s a firm believer in the offensive boost he can give this team.
The Guardians sent Tyler Freeman to the Colorado Rockies to bring the 26-year-old back.
He made his big league debut with the Guardians in 2022 before the Guardians sent him to Colorado to get Juan Brito.
The former second-round pick was limited to just 79 games last season because of an injured back, and he still hit .227 with 28 RBIs and three home runs.
Then again, the potential is more than evident, as he showed during the 2023 campaign when he hit .297 with 62 RBIs, 20 steals, and 20 home runs in 106 appearances.
The Guardians need as much help on offense as they can get, and while there should still be plenty of opportunities and a long leash for Noel, it never hurts to have some internal competition.
Hopefully, this will bring the best out of both of them.
