The Cleveland Guardians are in a tough spot right now.
They’re not bad enough to be a bottom-feeding team, nor good enough to make a deep postseason run.
That could change with just a couple of minor tweaks, but judging by recent history, that doesn’t seem likely to happen.
If anything, the Guardians are more likely to be sellers at the trade deadline, especially if the team continues to struggle at the plate.
With that in mind, former GM Jim Bowden argued that there might only be one truly untouchable player in Cleveland right now.
Talking to Ken Carman and Anthony Lima on 92.3 The Fan, Bowden claimed that all players not named Jose Ramirez might be up for grabs:
“I don’t think anyone’s untouchable except Ramirez. (Kwan) would be better if there was more juice in the lineup…You miss Josh Naylor. I wouldn’t be afraid to go bring him back,” he said.

Ramirez is a perennial MVP candidate and a fan favorite.
He also holds a no-trade clause, so he could essentially handpick his next destination, thus making it quite tricky to land equal value in return for his services.
As for Steven Kwan, it seems like it would take a generational offer for the Guardians to even consider moving on from their star outfielder, especially given how much they’ve struggled to find any sort of production there.
There’s still a chance that the Guardians will get hot in the next couple of weeks and make the team reconsider its stance and either become buyers or stay put.
But if that doesn’t happen, several veterans might find themselves playing for new teams come August.
