The Cleveland Guardians, against all odds, will pick first in next year’s MLB Draft.
They came into Tuesday’s Draft Lottery with 2% odds of winning the first pick.
Three teams, namely the Oakland Athletics, the Colorado Rockies, and the Kansas City Royals, each had 18.3% odds.
Fate is really something, though.
For the first time in their history, the Guardians will be picking first
The news comes as a blessing for a franchise that truly needs a position player who can be the next cornerstone.

They always say that drafting the best player available and worrying about potential position logjams or scarcity later is the best strategy.

Generally speaking, Guardians fans showed happiness and excitement about finally picking first.

The organization has a strong contingent of young pitching, with Triston McKenzie, Tanner Bibee, Gavin Williams, Logan Allen, Xzavion Curry, Hunter Gaddis, and prospects Daniel Espino and Cade Smith on the way.
While Andres Gimenez, Josh Naylor, Bo Naylor, Jose Ramirez, and Steven Kwan represent a good offensive core, more offense is needed.
The outfield, specifically, is an area of need of more offensive talent.

In any case, and even if the Guards choose to grab a pitcher, this is a golden opportunity to land a franchise-changing prospect with enough talent and experience to be ready to help in one or two years.
Tuesday represented a happy night for Cleveland fans, and they are still celebrating.
As they should.
