Emmanuel Clase is off to a historic start and has been arguably the league’s best closer so far with 15 saves and a minuscule 0.36 ERA as the anchor of the Cleveland Guardians’ dominant bullpen.
His run through the American League thus far has continued to move him up one particular franchise leaderboard at a blistering pace.
The team shared a graphic on their Twitter account that shows the updated franchise save leaderboard after Clase recorded his 125th career save with the Guardians against the New York Mets last night, which moved him up to fourth on their all-time list.

Clase passed Chris Perez, who is now fifth at 124 saves, and next up is Doug Jones at 129.
Bob Wickman is at 139 saves in second place and Cody Allen in first at 149 saves, so Clase has a chance to be the franchise leader by the end of this season at his current pace.
Clase’s numbers took a bit of a dip last year to the tune of a 3.22 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP as he blew a career-high 12 saves, but he has bounced back in a big way so far this year and looks better than ever.
Cleveland is currently on a 5-game winning streak and sits atop the AL just half a game behind the New York Yankees with a 32-17 record and is working to hold off the upstart Kansas City Royals in the AL Central, who are just 1.5 games behind.
Clase is already staking his claim to being the greatest closer in team history, and soon he’ll be the Guardians’ all-time leader in saves.
