Cleveland Guardians fans are once again on the outside looking in on the World Series after falling just short in the ALCS against the New York Yankees, losing 4-1, and being forced to watch the Fall Classic on the couch along with everybody else.
To help cheer fans up a bit, former Cleveland Cy Young winner and team legend CC Sabathia went on New Heights to speak with Cleveland natives Travis and Jason Kelce about his love for The Land.
When asked about his time in Cleveland, Sabathia said “I grew up in Cleveland. I got to Cleveland when I was 17 years old and I stayed there until I was 28. Three out of four of my kids were born there. Me and my wife got married there. That was my home. I stayed there in the offseason. I went to Cavs games. That city holds a special place in me and my wife’s heart, and like I always say, born and raised in Cali, grew up in Cleveland.”

It’s touching to hear Sabathia speak so fondly of Cleveland even though he is so many years removed from suiting up for the team.
Sabathia spent 11 years with the Yankees after signing with them in free agency following his brief stint with the Milwaukee Brewers, who acquired the ace in a trade from Cleveland at the 2008 trade deadline.
Sabathia will likely be rooting for his Yankees in the World Series even though he is from California, but it’s great to know Cleveland always has a special place in his heart.
